Daniel's update

How frustrating!

I wrote a huge post updating on the kids a few weeks ago and it never saved! :(

Now I need to try and remember everything.


Daniel at 8 months:


- got his first two teeth! Bottom centre right and then left two days apart (poor kid)
- learned how to sit up from laying down
- learned how to crawl
- pulled himself up from sitting to standing


Daniel at 9 months:


- walks holding hands
- two upper centre teeth (a few days apart)
- climbs up stairs
- speedy crawling
- stands for several seconds by himself!
- recognises the words: daddy, Ava, and boat
- watches airplanes in the sky
- slaps everything
- claps his hands
- waves at people

He's a very big boy! He eats pretty much everything and is beginning to outgrow 12-18 month size clothing. He weighs approximately 24lbs.

When I was doing my hair the other morning I set Daniel on the floor by my feet to keep an eye on him and Ava sat down beside him with a book to read him a story.



My happy baby boy! He's such a sweet little guy.


Well, a quick update on the two of them these days:

Ava is 100cm tall (my own measurements so give or take a cm!) and about 30lbs. She wears most size 3-4 clothing but often jeans are too short in the leg and too big around the waist. We have found one pair that fits perfectly though! The rest of the time she looks like she's ready for the floods. Size 7 shoes.

She's really starting to love her brother and seems to have forgotten what life was like before he arrived. She loves when he laughs at her.

She goes to preschool 4 days a week (3 hours on Mondays and Fridays and 5 hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays when she stays for lunch which she absolutely loves.)

She has a reward chart now and we use stickers to encourage good behaviour. When she fills up the princess castle chart with stickers, she will be allowed to go to Peppa pig world!

Daniel is growing so quickly that it's scary. He's six months old now and wears 9-12 month sized clothing. We haven't had him weighed since the last update so I don't know how much he weighs these days but he's quite solid! He wears size 4+ diapers as well.

We have started introducing him to real food and he has breakfast lunch and dinner most days. He doesn't like vegetables at all but absolutely loves fruit.

He has learned how to sit on the floor without falling over (the occasional wobble does happen though) and he enjoys playing with toys while he's sitting.

He doesn't sleep very often anymore, having an average of two naps a day and then sleeps around 6:30pm until the morning (with several wake ups in between!) ever since he had a bad cough several weeks ago, he has stopped sleeping through the night :(

We removed his dummy when the cough went away but had to give it back 5 days later because I wasn't able to stay awake trying to comfort him back to sleep every time he woke up. I'm not sure when we'll take it away again... Maybe once he starts sleeping through the night again?

Location:Photo update

Well I took Daniel to be weighed yesterday, and at 21 weeks (+2 days) he was a whopping 19.6lbs!

He has leapt from the 75th percentile to between 91st and 98th! What a big boy.

He is currently wearing 4+ sized nappies (I'm pretty sure Ava was nearly two when she wore those!) and he's wearing 9 month sized clothing.

It's not the most flattering shot, but here he is sitting across my lap after he finished his third bottle of the day. (Taken just now)



The health visitor wasn't worried about his weight, she said he'll slim down once he's more active.


Now he's watching Ava who is watching tv.

These days he loves his activity centre, he'll spend ages in there attacking his toys.

He's very happy almost all of the time and only gets grumpy when it's time for his bottle.

He makes noises as if he's trying to talk, but the only consonant he uses is "G" so occasionally he'll say "Goooo"

He sleeps very well at night and is in his own room. Last night I only had to go see him once around 6am.

He loves chewing on EVERYTHING and I'm sure he's teething.

He's getting better and better at figuring out how to use his hands and he has favourite toys that he likes to pick up and chew.

He loves Ava and smiles at her all the time :)

Ava is growing up way too fast and now goes to preschool 4 days a week (3 hrs on Mon&Fri, 5hrs on Wed&Thurs) She's due to start big school in September!


She's a good little helper when I ask her to get me a cloth or something, but she's really stubborn and when we ask her to get her shoes, or get dressed, she just won't do it. We've introduced a reward chart which has been going very well so far. We're just about to start the third week.

Uh oh - barf disaster, must run!

Daniel: newborn to four months

Daniel is such a happy little guy. He's quite big for his age and is already in 6-9 month sized clothing even though he only just turned 4 months!

He giggles and smiles a lot and is very calm most of the time. He does get wound up when it's time for his bottle though and you would have thought he'd been starved by the way he reacts when you're getting it ready!

He also gets slightly cranky when he's tired but he settles into his nap pretty quickly.

He's an excellent sleeper and has been sleeping very well at night since he was born. He has slept through the night many times already.

He has had a couple of colds this winter, one of them resulted in him being taken by ambulance to the hospital. He was struggling to breath and had a fever. In the end he came home with an inhaler to use for a couple of weeks.

He is still sleeping in our room at night but we are going to change that soon, maybe tomorrow.
